Coating Type
Properties and Application
Anti-reflection
Single Layer MgF2
Applied to materials with refractive index from 1.45 to 2.4. The most popular anti-reflection coating for visible. They are insensitive to change in incidence angles.
Multilayer "V"
Used to provide low reflectance with in a narrow durable wavelength band for most laser application. Minimum reflection can be less than 0.1%
Broadband Multilayer
These coatings have excellent performance over a broad spectral range broadband. Coating performance is sensitive to angle of incidence.
Dual Wavelength Band
Offer very low reflectance at two widely spaced wavelengths, such as Nd:YAG Laser (1064) and its second harmonic (532). Creator Optics makes this a double wavelength wave-plate.
High Reflection
Dielectric HR Coatings
Provide high reflectance over a broad bandwidth, and is ideal for a tunable laser or in white light applications.
Metallic HR Coatings
Metallic coatings have low peak reflectance, mechanical durability and damage threshold, but they have extremely broadband and low cost. They are insensitivity to angle of incident light and polarization.
Edge Filter
Long-wavength Pass Filter
Transmit on the long-wavelength side of rejection band.
Short-wavength Pass Filter
Transmit on the short-wavelength side of rejection band.
Band Pass Filter
Broadband Pass Filter
Passband widths over 10nm (Fused Silica BPF460 )
Narrowband Pass Filter
Passband widths 5nm to 10nm
Coatings for Infrared
Antireflection Coating for Infrared
Antireflection Coating of Infrared 780nm to 1100nm, 1100nm to 2500nm, 2000nm to 2700nm, 3000nm to 5000nm, 8000nm to 14000nm, Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC)
Infrared Filter
Band Pass Infrared Filter at 2 micron to 2.7 micron, 3 micron to 5 micron, 8 micron to 14 micron.
