Brief of optical rods

    Optical rods usually have two very parallel light transmission surfaces. This pair of planes is deeply polished, and the surface quality and flatness are very precise. The sides usually have cylindrical, conical and prismatic shapes. They can be finely ground or polished. There is a type of optical rod with a spherical end and is usually convex, it can be called a rod lens. These rod mirrors and rod lenses are widely used in fiber optic paths, optical measuring instruments, laser systems, medical equipment and many other fields.

    In addition, there is also an optical rod, which requires a cylindrical surface to be an optical surface. This is similar to a special cylindrical lens, except that the focal length is shorter. This kind of rod mirror is usually used for scanning equipment, leveling instrument, etc.

     Optical glass: SCHOTT, CDGM
     Fused Silica: UV fused silica, IR fuesed silica, Corning 7980, JGS1, JGS2, JGS3
     Laser crystal: ND:YAG, ND:YVO4, Ti:Al2O3.
     Sapphire: C-axis orientation
     Infrared crystal: Germanium, Silicon

Common parameters for optical rods

     Types of optical rods: Cylindrical, Conical, Prismatic, Pyramidal, special size or type are available upon request.
     Polished surface of optical rods: two ends only, cylindrical surface only, all surfaces.
     Surface Quality of optical rods: 80/50, 60/40, 40/20, 20/10, 10/5.
     Surface Accuracy of optical rods: two ends up to 1/10 lambda at 633nm.
     Available Coating for optical rods: different single layer or multiplayer anti-reflection (AR) coating against different requirements for rod end surface. Customized available.
